Granite countertops are a great choice for kitchen and bathroom countertops. They look great and last for years!

However, there are a few things to keep in mind when it comes to maintaining your granite countertops.

Daily Care For Granite Countertops

Granite is a beautiful, natural stone. These surfaces should be cherished, which is why we recommend a little extra TLC.

First, make sure your granite countertops are sealed. Sealing granite countertops helps to keep moisture, dust, and other unwanted substances from soaking into the porous surface. If you notice moisture soaking into your granite, reseal the stone.

For daily maintenance, wet a soft cloth with warm, soapy water and gently wipe down the surface. Then dry with a microfiber cloth. clean your granite countertops with a mixture of half water and half isopropyl alcohol. Let the mixture sit on your granite for about 5 minutes, then rinse with warm water and dry with a microfiber cloth.

You can also use specialty granite cleaners. Make sure they are specifically intended for granite surfaces, though.

Avoid using acidic cleaning solutions like ammonia, vinegar, lemon, or bleach. These chemicals break down your countertop’s protective sealant.

Deep Clean Granite Countertops

Make sure your granite countertops have a protective sealant. If there wasn’t one applied originally, a sealant should be applied as soon as possible. Protective sealants can wear thin over time, which allows liquid, dirt, and other harmful dust to enter the porous surface. That’s why regular granite renewal is essential.

Chem-Dry Carpet Tech renews your granite countertops first by deep cleaning the surface with our cleaning solution to remove dust and other harmful particles. Then we seal the granite to protect the luxurious shine and keep out future dirt, stains, and grime.
